At the fair Kai got to go through this whole pretend farming thing where he milked this fake cow. He was so excited about it.

Julie Bowen and I went to Florida for Shea's wedding and we went to Disney World while we were there. It was the best time, and we ended up getting rained on the first night, but it was so warm out that we just played in the puddles!

A day at the SLC county fair, we all went down this slide together, it was huge and Kai giggled the whole way down.
So today is Christmas Eve, and after receiving a Christmas card from a long time friend, realized that some people actually do read these! So I've decided to be better at writing.

Let's see, since July not a lot has happened, but there are some changes. I'm still teaching my junior high/high school classes and loving it. I'm also still working at the daycare part time but finally quit yesterday and am hugely relieved. I was so ready to be done with a manipulative boss and poorly run center. So anyway that's me. Kai is doing well, getting a little out of hand as he is now 2 and going through some crazy times. He is kind of potty training, but driving me insane. He loves to go to the bathroom, but the problem is getting him off. He'll go a little, flush, wipe, do the whole thing, then get back on and do it all over again.............for about 20 minutes. I'm ready to pull my hair out and have since stopped putting him in the underwear because I just don't want to deal with 20 minute potty sessions every 20 minutes. So, let's see other than that, he's still talking complete sentences and is even calling me a 'mean' mommy when he doesn't want to do something. Yeah that cracks me up.

And Ammon, well Ammon has made a very big decision. He's going back to school this January and we are so relieved. Well Ammon might not be 'relieved' but he is feeling good about his decision. He'll still be working full time, and has switched to the night shift in order to do his homework and still keep up. We think it'll be a good move. He's almost got his associates degree, so we are hoping it will only take about 2 years.

So that's about it for the last 6 months. Christmas will be exciting this year as we have Ammon's parents coming down from Alaska and we'll be going to Park City together. That'll be really fun. Then after they leave, Kai and I will be going to Michigan for 10 days to see my family. It's been almost a year and a half since they've seen my devil of a child, and we are all excited.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and we'll see you next year.

The update:

Well since the last time I wrote, I have finally been given a job as an art teacher in a junior high. I'll be teaching 7th, 8th and 9th graders. I know the question in your head is why anyone would trust me with a class of middle schoolers, but I tell you it's true! Anyway, for the summer I have been working as a kindergarten teacher at the same daycare where my son goes. I don't love it but it fills the time and pays the bills until I start teaching again. In fact I've decided that kindergarteners are the best manipulators in the world and have the devil in them. OK it's not all bad, but I have been shown that my choice in life for not teaching elementary was indeed a good decision.

Kai is 21 mos old now, and such a chatter box. He actually talks more than any other kid in his class, including the two year olds. I wonder where he gets that! haha . Anyway, he will copy ANYTHING you say, and I mean anything. I really have to watch my mouth now... anyway. He's a handful but growing quickly. He is using full sentences now and most people can actually understand him! Quite amazing. He's also learned how to climb out of his crib, so we finally upgraded him to a toddler bed. I think he hates it, but since we lock him in his room, ... well yeah anyway, the kid is smart!

So Ammon, well he's still working at the prison, I hate it, he hates it, so we are keeping our eyes and ears open for some job changes in the future.

Well other than that we are doing great and looking forward to the terrible 2's and potty training. Anyone with helpful hints on potty training a boy will be my new best friend!

Frustration

Ok so I really can't figure out how to post pictures on here and keep them the same size, or put them exactly where I want them, so don't make too much fun of me, but at least we have a blog up and running!
